Current subsidies for charging stations in Germany
Do you want to be part of the drive revolution or have you already started using electromobility? The charging infrastructure also plays a crucial role in making the switch to electric vehicles easier. The option of installing your own EV charger at home is a great advantage.
Fortunately, there are numerous funding programs in Germany that offer financial support at both the federal and regional levels. The most well-known funding, KfW 442, was discontinued in 2024 and can no longer be applied for. You can find alternative EV charger funding programs that are currently offered in Germany in this article:

Nationwide funding for publicly accessible charging infrastructure
The Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) has launched a funding program for publicly accessible charging infrastructure.
Program overview:
Goal: Construction of at least 50,000 charging points, including 20,000 fast charging points
Total volume: 500 million euros
Funding rates: Up to 60% of the investment costs

You can submit applications via the website of the Federal Institute for Administrative Services (BAV). The program supports the expansion of charging infrastructure in Germany and has already contributed to the construction of around 20% of public charging points.
Regional subsidies for EV chargers and fast-charging stations
Despite the abolition of nationwide programs, some federal states, cities and municipalities continue to offer subsidies for EV chargers:
EV charger funding in Baden-Württemberg
With the Charge@BW program, Baden-Württemberg offers attractive funding for publicly accessible charging points and electrical installations without charging infrastructure for the (later) connection of charging points in homeowners' associations (WEG).

Mainz: In Mainz you get €400 if you install your charging station on the wall, and even €700 for a free-standing column . You can find the Mainzer Stadtwerke funding program here.
Expired funding programs since 2021
There have been grants in the past, but they have since expired. If you have applied for one of these grants, you can still submit invoices and receive the grant.
KfW 440 for private individuals: ended in October 2021
KfW 441 for companies: expires in 2023
KfW 442 "Solar power for electric cars": 200 million euros in funding for 2023, canceled for 2024. EV chargers were subsidized with a flat rate of 600 euros. To do this, the eligible EV chargers had to meet the technical requirements of the KfW 442 funding program. All DaheimLader EV chargers meet the requirements and are on the KfW list of subsidized charging stations.
Berlin funding program "Business-oriented electromobility" (WELMO): ended in 2023
Hamburg EV charger project ELBE: Closed for new applications in mid-2022
The funding landscape for EV chargers has changed significantly in recent years. While nationwide programs have expired, regional initiatives and energy suppliers continue to offer opportunities for financial support. It is worth checking the current offers in your own region and, if necessary, contacting energy suppliers.
