Comparison – The differences between the DaheimLader Smart and Touch?

Since May 2022, we have been offering our customers two different EV charger models. In our product range, you will find the DaheimLader Smart (formerly Wallbox V1/V2) as well as the DaheimLader Touch (formerly DaheimLader V1/V2).

Both EV chargers use the same hardware architecture (mainboard and system software). As a result, all software functions of our app as well as the DaheimLaden.com online portal are identical. All customers—whether using the DaheimLader Smart or the DaheimLader Touch—have access to features such as free cloud-based load management and PV surplus charging. All new software features are also developed for both EV chargers based on the same hardware architecture.

The main differences between the DaheimLader Smart and the DaheimLader Touch can be summarized as follows:

Display: The DaheimLader Touch features a 7-inch touch display. The DaheimLader Smart, on the other hand, uses a 4-inch LCD display.
With the touch display of the DaheimLader Touch, current charging data, the total energy meter (values of the MID meter), and the consumption data of recent charging sessions can be displayed directly on the EV charger. In addition, the charging power can be individually adjusted in 1 A steps up or down during the charging process (e.g., for individual adjustment when charging with a PV system). Furthermore, all system settings (especially Wi-Fi pairing) are configured directly on the EV charger via the touch display.
The display of the DaheimLader Smart shows all relevant performance data of the current charging session. This includes the total energy meter (software-based), the current phase current, the grid voltage, the duration of the current charging session, and the consumed energy.
The display of the DaheimLader Touch is completely switched off when not in use. In standby mode, the LED indicators of the DaheimLader Smart are turned off and the display brightness is dimmed by 95%.
The display language of the DaheimLader Smart is exclusively German, while the language of the DaheimLader Touch can be changed. The DaheimLader Touch offers German, English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Hungarian as selectable languages.
Energy meter: The DaheimLader Smart has a software-based, non-modifiable energy meter. This allows all charging sessions to be recorded and evaluated. The DaheimLader Touch additionally features a hardware-based MID-compliant meter. This is required, for example, for official billing with the tax authorities or your employer.
Installation / connection terminals / “invisible” power supply cable: The DaheimLader Touch features a new, revised installation concept. First, the mounting plate is installed on the wall or on the pedestal, then the cable is inserted. Afterwards, the EV charger is mounted onto the mounting plate and the connection cable is attached directly to the MID energy meter. With the DaheimLader Smart, the supply cable is connected to the screw terminals and then the EV charger is mounted onto the wall-mounted plate. For the DaheimLader Smart, it is therefore recommended to use a flexible cable (e.g., rubber cable H07RN-F).With the DaheimLader Touch, there is also the option to route the power supply cable through a wall opening from the back into the EV charger, allowing the power cable to be installed “invisibly.”
