More and more buildings require an intelligent solution to manage charging processes due to the growing number of electric vehicles—especially when multiple EV chargers are in use simultaneously. This is exactly why we developed the DaheimLaden LoadManager: a compact, scalable solution for intelligent load management in apartment buildings, underground parking garages, and homeowners’ associations (WEGs).
The DaheimLaden LoadManager is the key to an independent and decentralized charging infrastructure. It combines the benefits of on-site physical power measurement with the need for overarching load management—without restricting the end user’s flexibility.

How does the DaheimLaden LoadManager work?
The DaheimLaden LoadManager is installed directly on the DIN rail (4 modules) and measures the building’s total power consumption. It distributes the available power as needed to up to 25 EV chargers (linearly scalable—e.g., 50 EV chargers require 2 LoadManagers). The charging power is adjusted to the available energy, ensuring all vehicles can charge safely without overloading the building’s main connection.
Highlights of the DaheimLaden LoadManager
Compatibility: Fully compatible with ALL DaheimLaden EV chargers (forward and backward).
Scalability: Manages up to 25 DaheimLaden EV chargers per LoadManager, linearly scalable (e.g., 50 wallboxes require 2 LoadManagers).
PV Surplus Function: Includes hybrid mode and timed mode switching.
Direct or Transformer Measurement: Up to 63A via direct measurement; above 63A via transformer measurement.
Easy Installation: Mounted on a DIN rail (4 modules).
Offline Operation: Fully functional offline, with optional internet connectivity for additional software features.
Connection: Uses Cat7 cabling (additional router required).
Control & Connectivity: Wallbox control via LAN/WLAN—no additional control cables needed.
EEBus Capable: Simplifies compliance with §14a EnWG (German Energy Industry Act).

EV charger Load Management in Apartment Buildings, Underground Garages, and WEGs
In most apartment buildings—especially in underground garages or shared parking areas—wallboxes are connected directly to the residents’ individual electricity meters.
The challenge: When multiple or all EV chargers are used simultaneously for charging, the total load can overload the building’s main connection. This is where the DaheimLaden LoadManager comes in. It is centrally connected near the general electricity meter and performs a transformer measurement in the unmetered part of the main connection.

This allows the LoadManager to monitor the building’s current total consumption at all times. You input the maximum connection capacity into the associated software, and the LoadManager automatically regulates the maximum charging power of the EV chargers to prevent overloads.
This ensures that smart EV charger features such as company car billing, charging timers, or dynamic electricity tariffs remain fully usable—only during temporary load peaks will the charging power be automatically reduced.
Since January 1, 2024, §14a EnWG mandates that wallboxes must be controllable by the grid operator. The LoadManager meets this requirement via an EEBus interface, eliminating the need for additional control cables. This significantly reduces installation complexity and costs.

PV Surplus Charging with the LoadManager—for Large and Small Installations
The DaheimLaden LoadManager not only measures the building’s power consumption but also captures the currently produced solar energy in typical partial-feed PV systems. This creates a complete energy balance, based on which the LoadManager intelligently and efficiently distributes surplus PV power to one or multiple charging points.
Three flexible charging modes are available:

Pure PV Mode: The goal is to charge the vehicle battery with up to 100% PV power. For example, if your PV system generates a 6 kW surplus, your vehicle will charge at exactly that power level—without drawing from the grid. This achieves zero feed-in and
maximizes the use of your self-generated electricity without purchasing grid power.
Min+PV Mode: Electric vehicles require a minimum charging current of 6 A. In pure PV mode, charging pauses if less than 6 A of PV power is produced. This can lead to no charging for days, especially in darker seasons. In Min+PV mode, charging always occurs at a minimum of 6 A—even without surplus, using grid power if necessary. As PV output increases, the charging power dynamically adjusts. Ideal for reliable and predictable charging.
Timer-Based PV Mode: For even greater flexibility and reliability, this mode uses PV mode during the day and grid mode at night. This allows efficient charging with PV power during the day without additional grid draw while ensuring your vehicle is fully charged by morning. This feature is particularly useful for fleet management but is equally suitable for individual installations.
Network Integration for EV charger Load Management

The DaheimLaden LoadManager connects to the EV chargers via a local network and takes over the control of charging processes. Communication occurs via star-shaped LAN cabling on TCP standard—no additional control lines are required.
This simple and stable structure makes installation particularly efficient and cost-effective. Control commands are sent directly from the LoadManager to the respective charging points—for reliable, intelligent load management without unnecessary complexity.
With an additional internet connection, extended DaheimLaden software features become available, such as user/vehicle-specific reports, charging timers, remote start/stop, and more.
LoadManager Software
The LoadManager displays the local energy balance in real-time on the dashboard, including individual phase values. The SmartMeter module allows tracking of active power and energy. The Wallbox module handles the setup, display, and control of DaheimLaden wallboxes.
